'Arcobaleno' is the Italian word for rainbow. This wine is a true 'field blend', being a co-ferment of the Italian varietals Arneis (29%), Vermentino (29%), Fiano (16%) and Garganega (7%), with Chenin Blanc (27%). It was fermented using wild yeasts and aged on lees for 5 months in seasoned 228 litre French oak barrels. Full malolactic fermentation was encouraged on 30% of the barrels to enhance richness and texture.
This wine is textural, silky and luscious on the palate with a clean finish. It has a delightful and complex spectrum of peach, apricot nectar and wet flint, with musk and apple blossom on the nose. Unique to the Yarra Valley, unique to Maddens Rise.
